Crew Kraftorz' Org Culture Series: Reviving a sense of Community at Work

Even before the pandemic, most of us were socially isolated at work. With Hybrid working models and Quiet Quitting being the headlines of Corporate Workforce news, let's look at what culture means for overall organisation effectiveness and operations;

  • Research Data shows us that only 33% of employees feel a sense of community within the organisation.

  • Lonelier employees were reported to gradually lose performance and leave jobs around the 6-month period.

  • This rate of Employee Engagement is an expensive (and sad!) cost of operations for any Organisation.

What truly brings Culture Change is fostering a sense of Community within the organisation. Community - A group of individuals who share a mutual concern for one another's welfare. Crew Kraftorz spoke to leaders of close-knit high-performance teams, to give us a few points on how they navigated remote working and distributed teams over the last 3 years to better help all of us scale similarly. An excerpt of their inputs is listed below;

  1. Create Mutual learning experiences – Does your team have cross functional capabilities yet?

  2. Channel the power of Nostalgia – Creating memories or experiences that pull a team together plays a pivotal role in a successful remote/hybrid ops scenario.

  3. Connect with your local communities – Team bonding extends beyond the office. High performance teams have an innate connection with their respective local communities like active sports, social outreach causes, environment conservation, etc. to name a few.

  4. Craft shared virtual experiences – Instances like Virtual Onboarding are extremely stressful for new joiners, and it is crucial that their new team members or team leader be an intricate part of their onboarding process. The idea is to instil a feeling of trust that can be hinged on in the future.

  5. Make rest and renewal a team effort – Does your entire team get off days when they’re not required to be on standby? A few leaders even went to the extent of creating 3-day weekends for their teams once every quarter!

Crew Kraftorz strives to build high performance teams and organisations for our clientele. If you’re in the bubble of driving a disengaged workforce, we’d be more than happy to help! All it takes is a quick email to info@crewkraftorz.com.
